With an employment of less than 10%, the use of sensory technology for remote monitoring and control in the meat processing industry is not widespread. This research project was designed to assist meat processors in evaluating the tangible and intangible benefits to their wastewater treatment by utilising a real time data monitoring and control system provided by good quality sensors. 

In addition to a financial benefit, the results show meat processors are able to meet regulatory requirements .
